oh, the merry month of may…
we had a few trips last month that let us enjoy time with some friends we were really happy to see. you can view the slideshow for more pictures.
we went to charlotte for stevie maple and reid archer’s wedding. we had a great time dancing and visiting with people we hadn’t seen in a while. the bride was beautiful, of course, and the reception site was an old church that had been converted into a fabulous wine room. we stayed with my friend maria who just bought and renovated a house in charlotte. she’s done lots of work and the house looks great! on sunday maria took us to amelie’s french bakery for lunch and dessert. it’s one of my favorite bakeries (which says something if you know how discriminating i am about my pastries).
the next weekend we met some UNC friends in charleston for a little beach time. we celebrated blake and ashley cloninger’s baby girl, who is due in august, and then promptly returned to immature college behaviour. zeke also got a little birthday candle dessert when we were at dinner in isle of palms. other than the horrible sunburns, we had loads of fun catching up and being silly.
on the way home from charleston we stopped in wilmington to stay with our friend sam, who is also a new homeowner. his house is so cute. sam’s fiancé has been gradually moving things in for after their wedding july3rd. sam took us for a very authentic mexican meal that the boys loved, but didn’t exactly suit the vegetarian girl… but the next morning sam fixed incredible french toast with fruit and mint straight from his herb garden.
we are going to miss our dear friends when we make the big move, but we’ve had fun making summer visits.
